‘Chryslers on the Murray’ on track for another record

The biggest Chrysler show in the Southern Hemisphere is again on track for a mega attendance with a record number of pre-entries already registered for this weekend’s event.

Chryslers on the Murray event co-ordinator Rod Taylor from the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club says response this year has been overwhelming.

“The number of pre-entries stands at 570 at the moment, which is the most we’ve ever had, and about 20% of them are first time visitors to the event.”

Chryslers on the Murray is in its 27th year and has grown from what was a record 747 cars just two years ago, to a massive 853 entries last year.

The introduction to a new component of the event - the ‘Great Reveal’ on Friday night for newly completed restorations has also taken up greater interest than expected.

“Anyone who has just finished a new restoration has been encouraged to bring it along on the Friday night,” Rod said.

“The plan is to have them all undercover, then one by one we’ll pull the covers off and each entrant can explain the story of the car and their project and we’ll continue on to reveal the next car.

“We thought we might have six or seven cars, we actually ran out of covers – it looks like we’ll have about 13.”

Organisers are hoping a big crowd of local families and car enthusiasts will view the stunning collection of Chryslers on Sunday at Gateway Lakes.

“No matter what you’re into, or what era you’re familiar with, there’s something there you’ll find quite interesting.”

While the Chryslers are the focus, the family friendly event will include face painting, children’s rides, a swap meet and shaded areas.
