Come and celebrate Book Week at Wodonga Library
Wodonga Library will host poet Harry Laing as part of its Book Week celebrations today
Laing is a poet, children’s author, creative writing teacher and comic performer.
Children will have the opportunity to learn about poetry performances during this after school workshop.
Laing will demonstrate how to use humour, language, intrigue and mood to shape poems, rhyme, songs and rap- all energised by a strong sense of fun.
He has published two books published Thirst and Backbone as well as a children's book - Shoctopus: Poems to grip you (2015) - which is a book of illustrated poems for six to 12 year-olds.
The free workshop will start at 4pm.
Children’s Book Week is on from August 18 to 24 and the theme this year is ‘Find Your Treasure’.
Each year across Australia, the Book Week brings children and books together.
During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature and you will often see children's book character parades and talented librarians creating amazing displays.
The Wodonga Library runs Story Time each week during school term for:
Preschool: Mondays from 10am for three to five-year-olds
Toddler: Wednesdays from 10am for 18 months to three-year-olds
Cuddles: Fridays from 10am for newborns to 18 months
