From the CEO: Meeting with local goverments from across Australia

It certainly wasn't the warmest time of the year to hold a conference in the nation's capital but the Australian Local Government Assocition conference certainly make braving the cold worthwhile.

Myself, Mayor Cr Anna Speedie and councillors Danny Lowe and Kat Bennett attend this year's conference which included chats with the Prime Minister, Opposition Leader and many ministers including our local representatives.

The weeks kicked off at the National Convention Centre for a day's workshop at the ALGA Regional Cooperation & Development Forum with colleagues from 547 Local Governments from across Australia.

This year's forum brought together noted economists, researchers, government and industry experts to discuss the power of collaboration. The forum launched the latest 21st State of the Regions report indicating insights into spatial change, economic growth, population and family structures and key emerging trends in equality and inequality between regions. We also were able to explore community engagement methods and tools.
