Red Carpet awards recognise young people's contribution

Wodonga Council will recognise young people in the community with the 11th annual RED Carpet awards.

Launching the 2019 awards, Cr John Watson said the RED Carpet Youth Awards were a key event on Wodonga’s calendar; strengthening Wodonga's support of young people, through community recognition, celebration and promoting young people's achievements.

“This is an opportunity for the community to nominate and support young people with different life experiences and celebrate and recognise the contribution they make to our community,” he said.

“I encourage people to either nominate a young person or encourage them to nominate for the 2019 awards.

“The awards are well supported by our local businesses and community organisations and I want to acknowledge our major sponsor the Albury Wodonga Community College.”

The awards are organised and run by a committee of six young people from across local high schools in Wodonga with the support of Wodonga Council’s youth services team.

This year the committee has renamed some categories and introduced a new category to bring the awards total to 10.
