Register your pets or risk fine

Attention pet owners - the annual pet registration renewal date is fast approaching.

Residents are reminded to register their pets by Wednesday, April 10.

Wodonga Council Team Leader Compliance Craig McClanahan said all pets, including both cats and dogs, must be registered by that date or owners risk a $322 fine.

"Our aim is to ensure your loved one is returned to your home as soon as possible," he said.

"If your animal is registered and your registration details are up-to-date, then it makes our job so much easier and can reduce the stress on your animal.

”There are discounts available for pets that meet certain criteria."

The council will doorknock in May to ensure all dogs and cats over three months of age are registered.
