The 43rd Wodonga Carols by Candlelight event
Wodonga’s biggest celebration of all things Christmas - the Wodonga Carols by Candlelight event - is on again.
On Sunday, December 16 from 7pm we will be joined by the Albury Wodonga Pipes and Drums Band.
The local band, who have also been performing on the Border for over 40 years, will be an exciting launch into what is a special night of candlelight and carols.
Albury Wodonga Pipes and Drums are just one of the pre-carol acts beginning at 6pm, along with food vans, face painting, and choirs, building up to the main carols event starting at 7.30pm.
Again in 2018, the Wodonga Christmas tradition will be host to 21 singers leading a program of 25 Christmas carols and songs, supported by a combined 65 voice choir (Sing Australia, New Life Chapel and St Augustines’ Glee Club) along with the 40-piece Wodonga Brass.
Carols Organiser Lindsay Hanchett said for the second year running the Wodonga Carols by Candlelight would also include a sign language interpreter to support the deaf in our Wodonga community.
"Wodonga Carols is a time to bring the whole family together to celebrate and sing, no one in Wodonga should feel excluded from this,” Mr Hanchett said.
Wodonga Carols by Candlelight will again be held at Willow Park in 2018.
“There is plenty of space to lay down the picnic rug, enjoy a picnic, or the APEX barbeque and other food providers that will be available from 6pm, when the pre-carols entertainment also kicks off," Mr Hanchett said.
“There’s face painting for the kids and candles for sale, with proceeds going to the Albury Wodonga Health’s Palliative Care Centre."
The main event will start at 7.30pm and be broadcast live on 1494 2AY and via their website.
The program will be hosted by 2AY’s Kevin Poulton with a visit from Santa!
The event is presented by Wodonga Brass, and would not be possible without significant support from the City of Wodonga, Riverside Estate, Wodonga Real Estate, Southern Vale Homes, Hume Bank, Bing Lee, Stewart, Tracy and Mylon and many other sponsors.
