Wood-fired oven cooking up bookings

There’s a new way to impress family and friends with your catering and you don’t even have to do the cooking, just supply the ingredients.

The Wodonga Apex Club is now taking private bookings, so you don’t have to wait until the next community bake to enjoy a big pizza cook up with your favourite toppings.

Wodonga Apex Club pizza oven co-ordinator Paul Kavanagh said Wodonga Primary School were on board with the school booking two days in September to cook sausage rolls and pizza in the wood-fired oven.

“It will be very popular once the weather picks up,” he said.

“It’s a chance for people to utilise the oven and beautiful surrounds for occasions such as birthdays, family reunions or just a catch up with friends.”

The community wood-fired oven is located at Belvoir Park adjacent to the Belvoir Park Playground.

The oven was built with support from the Australian Government, Victorian Government, Apex Club Wodonga and Wodonga Council.

For the remainder of the year, the community wood-fired oven will be operating the community bake events on the following dates, between 11am and 2pm:

  • Sunday, September 2 - Father's Day;
  • Sunday, October 14; and,
  • Sunday, November 18.
